OUR TRAVEL: FIRST DAY

June 3th

The great day arrived.
The trip lasted a week since we left Spain on Sunday, June 3 and returned on Saturday, June 9.

We left Ubeda at 9 am from the door of our high school and went to Madrid on a small bus. We arrived at the airport at 12 approximately. We checked-in our luggage and gave our boarding cards. Moreover, we ate a some mini sandwiches at a bar. They were delicious!

We had to wait several hours because the flight was delayed. Finally we took off at 4 o'clock in the afternoon from Madrid and landed at 7 a.m. at the airport in Warsaw. Despite the delay, the flight was great.

We took a bus to take us from Warsaw to Radom and there was everyone waiting for us! They were all very nice and the family made me feel at home from the first moment. My exchange partner was Weronika and I loved being with her during that week. As it was already very late, we decided to go to bed so we could rest and start the next day with much desire!

SOME OTHER ACTIVITIES: CHATS AND THEATER CLASSES

During the course we have been doing some activities related to the project YEA!

Several afternoons we met in our high school and in a very important building in my city to practice some scenes of Romeo & Juliet and to learn how to express ourselves with the body.
Our theater teacher, Nati, helped us to bring to light the young actors inside each one of us. It was great!

Moreover, some days in class hours we went to the computer room to talk with Polish and German students about different topics such as our family or our customs.
To be honest I think it wasn't a good idea because the internet didn't work well at all and that made communication difficult. However, I enjoyed talking with other teenagers from different countries and getting to know new cultures.

ROMEO & JULIET: OUR TRAVEL TO ALMAGRO

On March 22, we went on a school trip to Almagro.
Almagro is a city located in the center south of Spain and famous for its corral of comedies located in the main square that has remained as it was in the seventeenth century. It was a model of public theater installed in the courtyards that separated the buildings of neighbors in the Spanish cities.

There we saw the play of Romeo & Juliet written by William Shakespeare and actually, I really enjoyed it. The location was amazing and the actors were good and funny.
In addition, we also visited a theater museum near the
corral of comedies and we play in a gymkhana. We had a very good time there!

ÚBEDA, MY CITY

Úbeda is a World Heritage City located in the south of Spain, in Jaén. It has approximately 35,000 people and offers a wide variety of services and incredible views to its citizens and tourists thanks to its location on a hill. This city is Renaissance and in it they have lived 3 different cultures: Jews, Muslims and Christians.

MONUMENTS

While we walk through its streets we can know a little more about the history of Úbeda. Among the most famous monuments are the church of Santa Maria, El Salvador, the Hospital of Santiago, the church of San Pablo or the Water Synagogue.

YEA!: A PROJECT ABOUT BORDERS TOO

Not only does it bring to light the young actors we carry within, but this project also aims to cross and overcome borders, both physical and mental ones.

In our Geography and History class we have been working on borders. Our teacher asked us to make a project that needed to include what is a border and the different types that exist.
I carried it out with my partner Lucía Peralta, who is also in the project.

Here is the link so you can have a look:

FIRST ACTIVITY: LOGO DESIGN

One month before the trip to Germany, a contest was held to choose the logo of the project YEA!. I decided to participate with my twin sister Julia, who is also in the project. We used an application for editing digital images that we learned in technology class called Gimp. Together we created a logo that, surprisingly, came out winner.

Although it's a simple logo, I think that it fits perfectly with what we were looking for because it contains the name of the project and a drawing with a lot of meaning.

Starting from the left we find a feather symbolizing literature and William Shakespeare, since the project is about theater and Romeo and Juliet, one of his most famous plays.
In the middle it's written the name of the project. Moreover, on the right side there is a red exclamation mark that expresses the desire to enjoy time all together.

Thanks to our great effort we received a prize: A diploma, a fantastic board game about European countries and a blue cloth bag with the name of the project. Thank you very much for giving us all that!

PRESENTATION: SOMETHING ABOUT ME

Hello everyone!
I'm Lucia, a 14-year-old student from a small Spanish city called Úbeda. I have a big family, but I don't have any pets. I really enjoy doing sports and hanging out with my friends.
I'm participating in the YEA! project because it's a great opportunity to improve my English, learn about many new cultures and meet new people. If you want to know more about me you can watch the video below.
See you soon!
